Only downside is that it ended without the story concluding - now I'll have to wait until the next one comes out to find out if they rescue Commander Meyer and the rest of the Spear's crew :( Well this book ups the anti with a fleet arriving from the new Empire that is not so supportive of what Jared and Kelsey have accomplished and it's led by none other than Captain Breckinridge, a man that dislikes Jared in a big way and is a complete idiot. With non-stop action, new discoveries about the old empire and more mystery concerning the Rebel Empire and the fall of the old Empire, this book has it all in spades. A very exciting addition to the Empire of Bones Saga and a very entertaining read.

I would not suggest reading this book without having first read the ones that came before it in the series. However, that may be the case for most modern genre series, so I wouldn't count it as much of a negative.2. This may be the best book of the series so far, although the first one is a good rival.3. The authors habit of overly rapid female character development/personality changes continues, but I do not let that detract from the story for me.4. There is a slight impression that this book is unfinished. The next book may change my mind about that, but the way this one ends seems as if it was ended where it was just to enable the next book.5. God is often thanked; is sometimes used to damn things; and His name is used as an expletive a time or two. The weird thing is: at no point is any religion mentioned. Are these all just terms that survived the millennia to arrive at the time depicted in these books with no context? That seems unlikely. This author has definitely made it onto my "to be watched" list.Looking forward to the next book in the series!!

Space Opera with wonderful elements of a failed galactic empire and the remnants of that collapse 5 centuries ago, discovering derelict ships, working through the normal challenges authors throw at them. These are all elements that ring by bell perfectly. :)Terry is now on my short list with authors like Doug Dandridge (Exodus: Empires at War series), Vaughn Heppner, BV Larson, and Ryk Brown. If you like those books, you'll likely like this series. In this 3rd book, the scale and scope quickly broadens. We learn a LOT in this book. Almost more than I would have expected, as this "burn rate" seems higher than I would expect. I'm hoping he has lots more cool stuff coming.I honestly can't think of anything I'd want to complain about--other than I wish each book was more than 200-250 pages. I want more!I could not put this book down, and am looking forward to #4. Keep at it Terry!

Review "For a text that is entirely about complicated and sophisticated systems, it is very easy to understand for business people. The content is relevant and up-to-date and provides an insight into useful models than can be applied to any business. The many case examples are very effective at giving real-world examples of concepts. The supplemental CourseMate materials are also extremely helpful for studying the text to retain knowledge.""Compared to many college textbooks this one has short chapters, down to earth reading material, and great real life examples. If you're looking to learn interactively the course mate material is very helpful as well and easy to navigate! This is also reasonably priced too!"

The author not only shows an incredible knowledge of the subject but also shows an understanding of students and their preferences. Most students don't like their textbooks for different reasons but usually its because they're hard to understand because of a lack of explanations and because the assigned reading chapters are overwhelmingly long. But this book provides great explanations with examples throughout as well as chapters that are short, sweet, and to the point. The book is very well organized and put together and the online support proved extremely helpful.I would absolutely recommend this text. I am very pleased with this book and what I have learned from it.

Chapters are well written so that minimal reading is required to learn a great amount of information. Definitions are explained clearly and completely, and can be understood by anyone remotely familiar with technology.Questions at the end of chapters combined with online practice questions are extremely useful study tools that enabled good grades in my course. Making flashcards and studying specific topics was easy with the online study bits feature. With the well explained book and fantastic online features, I would definitely recommend this book to anyone learning MIS.

The world built in the first book is solid and maintained well throughout all the books. My only problem was the large number of typos. It's obvious the books were edited for story consistency, but equally obvious that an additional edit was needed for basic English fixes.

By Cherise Everhard This book was given to me by the author/publisher in exchange for an honest review. This is a series of werewolf serials put into one book. There is a different werewolf pack starring in each book – though you will hear all the pack names woven in and out of the stories, since each pack is aware of the others.I really liked this series and I think this set is the way to read it. Once I figured out that each story was actually a set of super short series combined to make it one read, I decided that I had lucked out discovering them this way. I think having to read one separately, or while waiting for others to be published would have driven me nuts. I am glad I got to read them in their entirety all at once!I really enjoyed this take on the werewolf world and the little things that made it unique for me. I liked how each pack was very different in their culture. The only thing they have in common is there werewolf/shape-shifting abilities. My one problem with this story was the editing. There are some very easy to spot and fix mistakes. One of the bigger ones is that in two separate stories the author calls a main character the wrong name, several times. This confused the heck out of me. I was like “Who is Rhiannon?” “Who is this Nic?” And it caused me to go back and reread – thinking I missed something crucial.Other than that I was totally immersed in this world and I am going to start her dragon series, next.Cherise Everhard, May 2015

There were some typos - even some repeated paragraphs but all in all I truly enjoyed every word! Could not wait to finish! Loved how the stories were keep united in one way or another - it helped keep the continuity so you didn't feel like they were just stories thrown together to make a set - which was very refreshing! Tried to take the survey at the end of the book but it was already closed.

Since the first dominion of men was asserted over the ocean, three thrones, of mark beyond all others, have been set upon its sands: the thrones of Tyre, Venice, and England. Of the First of these great powers only the memory remains; of the Second, the ruin; the Third, which inherits their greatness, if it forget their example, may be led through prouder eminence to less pitied destruction. The exaltation, the sin, and the punishment of Tyre have been recorded for us, in perhaps the most touching words ever uttered by the Prophets of Israel against the cities of the stranger. But we read them as a lovely song; and close our ears to the sternness of their warning: for the very depth of the Fall of Tyre has blinded us to its reality, and we forget, as we watch the bleaching of the rocks between the sunshine and the sea, that they were once “as in Eden, the garden of God.” Her successor, like her in perfection of beauty, though less in endurance of dominion, is still left for our beholding in the final period of her decline: a ghost upon the sands of the sea, so weak—so quiet,—so bereft of all but her loveliness, that we might well doubt, as we watched her faint reflection in the mirage of the lagoon, which was the City, and which the Shadow. I would endeavor to trace the lines of this image before it be for ever lost, and to record, as far as I may, the warning which seems to me to be uttered by every one of the fast-gaining waves, that beat, like passing bells, against the Stones of Venice.

Architecture: Objectives By yonder The Stones of Venice By John Ruskin is an excellent narrative in which he compares two classical buildings, the Ducal Palace with St. Marks. Both buildings are located in Venice, and as usual he goes into the history of Venice that is made up of several islands that are connected by canals and bridges. He goes as far as starting with the stone that involves transportation from the quarries as cut pieces ready for buildings, the pieces are not symetrical and they are used for support. he decribes every section of the buildings and how they came to be, and the use of artists from the East to make the mosaics. He gives specific guidelines for the proper use of intrustation, light, and paint.John Ruskin compares the palaces to the homes of the citizens and states' that the great buildings are extensions of the homes, they just happen to be larger and more elaborate, they are meant to be the place where the public can serve their God.He also talks about the artists who created the buildings and how he was able to date the structures and tell the difference between the construction from the 13th, 14th, and 15th century in the same building, the difference between techniques through the centuries. He was able to detect Lombard, Bystantine, and Renaissance building methods. This is an excellent book and serves as a wonderful guide to the use of building techniques.SPRThe Classical Language of ArchitectureThe Architecture of the Classical InteriorClassical Architecture: The Poetics of OrderThe American Vignola: A Guide to the Making of Classical Architecture (Dover Architecture)

Surviving is easy. It’s the next part, living, that’s hard.

Zombies. It is seven months since the outbreak. The world is in ruins. Britain is a radioactive wasteland peopled by the undead. The few survivors cling to the hope that they might wake up tomorrow. For most, that is all they have left. But Nilda has something more; the chance that her son is alive. At least he was, months before. She and Chester set out from Penrith, searching for her son. During the journey, Nilda learns more about this self-confessed criminal, Radio Free England, and the conspiracy behind the outbreak. As they near Hull, she realises it is too late to change her travelling companion. She will need his help to escape the zombie infested city, and find her son. Fleeing from the last remnant of the old government, Tuck and Jay head south in search of survivors. When they rescue a wounded man, their quest becomes one for medical supplies. That leads them to a rooftop city, and to the realisation that surviving out in the wasteland is easy compared to forging a new life from the wreckage of the old civilisation. (100,000 words)

Even if the concept of zombies is products of fantasy, it is not hard to see them as exaggerated symbols for something more real. In the books we meet survivors who travel to find better life conditions; they find abandoned houses and sometimes other isolated human beings or small communities; these are stories that remind me of the stories from the time of the Plague in 14th century Europe.

Small world where people keep finding each other despite great distances where every mile may as well be a million. I find that a tiny bit hard hard to buy into but still love the characters and story.

I hope the whole history ends with some feel of hope of both a cure for the undead 's disease and humanity's poor decisions.

1 of 1 people found the following review helpful. Another Great Addition By Zavara As always, the writing is great. We get to see a lot more of Lily and Victor in this installment. I'm so sick of him, I wish Ashton or Brady or someone would just kill him already! And Lily! At first I felt kinda sorry for her, but now, I'm not sure. Yes, I think she was deceived by Victor. No, I don't think they are "true mates". But at the same time, I feel like she walked right into the situation she is in. I also feel like if she is stupid enough to believe everything out of Victor's mouth, well then, she deserves whatever happens to her. Then you have Luke and Lucy, Carly's younger brother and sister. The stereotypical entitled spoiled brats, pissed off because they didn't get what they wanted, which is to be alpha. Seriously, we have barely met them, and I already dislike both of them. Boo hoo, you didn't get to be alpha. Get over it already.Obviously, if you can't tell, this series gets my emotions going, lol. In my opinion, that's a good thing. Every installment bring something more and new to the story. I'm already anxiously waiting to see what happens in Part 7***I was gifted a copy in return for an honest review***

Victor finds his "True Mate" Lilly, and he was kind enough to change her. Lilly seems on the fence at present about a few feelings. I think Victor is using underhanded tactics to win her over. Victor's mother doesn't like her for what she is. She is now the Prima, and a half breed. I love the interaction between all the characters in each book, its like one big happy family. There is something to be said for someone doin something without your consent and then saying they love you in the next breath. Lilly may be his true mate, but I am not friggin happy about it. I do love the series! Carly's triplets are here, and her siblings are also making an appearance, and she is not on the BFF list for the week. It is gonna be interesting to see where Ms. V takes us in epi 7. Bring it on!

1 of 1 people found the following review helpful. The women are stronger than ever!! By Cilicia White This is the latest installment and I just didn't want it to end. All the ladies that have been called are finding their true mates or are they. Lily wakes up after having Victor turned her without her permission. We finally find out what he told her to turn on those she came to be with. Victor's mother doesn't like Lily. What will Lily do when she finds out what Victor did to Sierra. We finally meet Carly's siblings and they don't like her on bit. Sierra is still being strong and she is making a great effort to deal with the fact that Victor is her children's father. The men are still protective and fine as every. I can't wait for part seven because this story is getting better and better.I was given a copy of this book for a honest review..

When a meteorite falls near her campsite in the San Rafael Wilderness, troubled teen Leona Hewitt ventures down into the crater looking for a souvenir. What she discovers changes her life. Contained in the meteorite is a sticky, mucous-like fluid that bends light, cannot itself be seen, and seems to grow in the presence of living tissue. It’s drawn to her. But when a government team arrives in hazmat suits and cordons off the meteorite impact site, Leona questions her decision to take it home with her. For one thing, there are rumors of an extraterrestrial threat. For another, it has been speaking to her. It wants to be worn . . . stretched on like a second skin. It’s seeking out her weaknesses, exploiting her deepest fear—that the only boy she’s ever loved will unearth the vile secret in her past and see her as a monster. Now it promises salvation. It can make her invisible.

7 of 7 people found the following review helpful. A haunting mystery thriller with enough science and physics to make this girl happy! By Summer Jane Translucent is a thrilling adventure that had me on the edge of my seat at times but never feels rushed or cliche and it's definitely not dull in any way. At all.Okay, so, you know how many, many books in this genre have fallen prey to the "insta-love" or "this thing that is happening is magical or scientific, but we're not going to explain it and we don't have to, just accept that it's magical and move on" tropes? Translucent doesn't have either one of those things. The story is haunting, gripping, and you really, reeeeeeally want to understand what's really happening underneath the surface. At times I thought I knew what was going on, but couldn't quite put my finger on it and I was really pleasantly surprised by that. I really, really loathe how so many authors today seem to drop heavy clues along the way of their "mystery" and you've figured out in chapter 6 what's going to happen in chapter 38 and it's just annoying because I want to be taken on that characters journey. Discover it with them. Dan Rix does exactly that. Also, can I just say that I also really just adore how the main character in the book isn't some amazing person with an amazing destiny and journey because she was created by a special star and she, and only she, is the only person who can stop the world from coming to a horrible, crumbling end? Yeah, I really adored that. I could feel her hesitation, her fear, her frustration. Not to say at times I didn't want to slap some sense into her, but the point is: I can easily see a real person making these decisions. She wasn't some girl who always made the right choices or someone who was the savior of the world but "just didn't know it or believe it yet!", and that truly (TRULY, people!) made me happy.I don't know how he wrote from the point of view of a teenage girl so well, but he did/does and it's fantastic. There's just enough science-y jargon to make it believable (I won't do any spoilers) but some of the things I was sitting there going, "Well, for sci-fi, this honestly doesn't seem that far fetched. Actually, it seems pretty downright scary."So, if you're looking for a read to suck you in and take you on an adventure, you're headed in the right direction. Be warned, though. There are parts of this book that are really quite dark and sad. The mystery uncovers as you read on through the second book and a lot more things come to light. It's well, well worth it. Now I'm just waiting on book 3. I MIGHT DIE WAITING. So, you know, if I do, someone please read book 3 at my grave because I REALLY NEED TO KNOW.

5 of 5 people found the following review helpful. Excellent start to what should be an amazing series By Cu's Reviews While I've heard of Mr. Rix and his work before (I've been on his mailing list for a long time), I'd never gotten the chance to actually read anything by him before. I'm glad this book was my first glimpse into the worlds he weaves.Translucent follows Leona Hewitt, a teenager with a few secrets that alter her life forever. It also gives the reader in depth glances into the lives of her friends, Megan and Emory. Leona's secrets affect them too. This book is absolutely amazing. I'm not a big fan of science fiction, but this book had me on the edge of my seat from beginning to end. The storyline is so well plotted and developed as are the characters. The story-line is unique and original, I've read a lot of sci-fi (just cause I'm not a big fan doesn't mean I won't read it) and watched a lot of movies and I've never seen this particular scenario played out like this before The reader won't be able to help but fall into this world head first. There's enough spine-tingling things going on to get the heart thumping and the adrenaline flowing, and enough emotions running rampant that the reader will feel like they are watching the scenes unfold like some invisible specter.I highly recommend this book to any lover of science fiction, especially the kind of aliens, this is sure to be a favorite by many lovers of the genre. For you cliffhanger haters, be warned there IS a cliffhanger ending that is the lead in to the next book. I, for one, happen to love a good cliffhanger >~.^ Translucent, by Dan Rix

4 of 4 people found the following review helpful. The long wait has ended! By Kindle Customer I have rated this series 5 stars from the first book because of the great writing and character development. I almost gave Winter Apocalypse 4 stars because there was almost too much going on. J.W. Vohs writes really good action scenes but that action seemed to overwhelm the story development. It was nice to see some of the vignettes come into play. I wish after such a long wait, there would have been more story less action. I still love the series and I am really looking forward to the next installment.

1 of 1 people found the following review helpful. Getting a little weird and drawn out By Sapphyrez I'll start by saying the series had a great start and had me hooked. 5 stars! Good character development with an interesting medieval twist on the zombie apocalypse inspired by one of the author's students. It was really engaging up until about the 3rd book. By the 4th, and now 5th, things are getting a little repetitive, drawn out, and weird. There's plenty of action throughout but it's the same battle, just different location. The same last ditch effort, the same miraculous save. It's anti-climactic at this point. I found myself scanning the last 25%, making sure I correctly tallied who died and who survived.Another thing that is becoming increasingly irritating is that Jack and his fellow survivors seem to have EVERYTHING they need for every situation they encounter at just the right moment. Yet nobody from Indiana to Louisiana to Utah can scrounge up at least one MANPAD to drop those helicopters out of the sky and negate President Barnes' only strategic advantage. Cave dwelling Afghans have these things but Jack and his fellow Army Rangers can't find one? But, if they need a .50 cal with armor piercing rounds they can whip one up in a jiffy!.Then there's Luke. Or should I call him Neo at this point? Initially the story had good human drama, similar to The Walking Dead. However, Vohs took the tale in a Matrix / "Chosen One" direction. Luke may not have wings but I'm pretty sure he'll be flying by the next installment. Toss in some divine providence and it kinda feels like the wheels have come off of this thing.I would have preferred the author stuck solely with the original student-inspired idea that started this journey instead of taking it along a mystical route with Luke. It probably would have made for a finished 5 star series by now. As it stands, I see a few more books on the horizon before Luke finds himself and we get down to the business of kicking President Barnes' teeth in. But hey, it's not my story to tell.I still give it 3 stars one the whole and I will probably continue to read more. Despite my issues, I would recommend anyone who likes ZA fiction give this a shot.

2 of 2 people found the following review helpful. Amazing Crusade By Kindle Customer This latest entry in the Zombie Crusade series left me feeling worn out by the non-stop action and heart wrenching tale. This carefully crafted story checked all the boxes for me and now I cannot wait for the next installment. Bravo Mr. Vohs.

I've forgotten some of the applications I need to know, now that I'm back at work. This book does not begin to cover what I need, such as how to create macros. In the index, it states macros are on p. 345. They aren't. It's not worth the money.

The earliest fantasy campaigns grew directly out of wargames. There was a point in the development of the first commercial role-playing game when the rules shed most of their wargame roots and assumed a form familiar to generations of players to come. Iron Falcon aims to be that game, reproducing its mechanics and style in all its raw and innovative glory, as it was before the advent of more "advanced" rules.

Chris has a genuine knack for presentation. If you've ever had any intrest in very early D&D at all, pick this up. Geesh, just buy everything this guy puts out. I run Basic Fantasy for a big group of kids a couple times a year- its the easiest tabletop rpg varient to run by the seat of your pants I've found. At cost. Or for free. Iron Falcon's presented at the same level of excellence. Its more kooky to run, because it more closely emulates early rules. Good grief Chris, you're one productive dude.

I wish it had fully developed alignment, rather than lawful chaotic and neutral, but you can just consider lawful as good and chaotic as evil and personalize the creatures and pretty much do the same thing. I just prefer having it spelled out.Anyway, great job of bringing back the game I loved in my younger years. It's great to see someone so passionate about the hobby take an interest in ensuring it survives, and not just for whatever profit they can milk (cough cough Hasbro).

All of Dave Stein's book are extremely informative with a great amount of technical information and a little humor mixed in and this book keeps with that recipe. This is an excellent vbscript to powershell conversion book with plenty of real world examples to help you visualize the transfer of knowledge into powershell. The author also does an excellent job of striking that fine balance with the level of complexity, readers are in a happy median to not be completely brain numb from the techno-babble or being treated like a monkey just learning to use sign language. Just the right amount of expert scripting techniques for the advanced level while still clear enough explanations to understand what and why. This is a highly recommended book if you want to brush up or catch up on some powershell know-how.

I devoured the 18 books and I can say I truly have read none better. I hope the author doesn't get tired of writing this series as I could avidly read another 100 of them. The main characters are endearing, the adventures are diverse and never boring or repetitive. This author knows how to write intriguing sci-fi.

"I envy your journey with him." Jason Sterling never meant to put his life or anyone else's in danger. The Genier law firm's excellent reputation assures him all is well when he accepts the unusual job offer with the Genier's personal friend and client. The mysterious and alluring Augere becomes Jason's obsession. He doesn't know that the sumptuous home they share on Beacon Hill in Boston is far from the life in France, and the bayous of Louisiana,  where Augere's existence was forever changed. He has yet to learn the secrets of the decaying house in Savannah and its connection to Augere. Jason rationalizes the occurrences of anything unusual even when  events on a trip to Europe  suggest a reality quite different than what he knows but has begun to suspect.  When a terrifying incident convinces Jason he has been the victim of a dangerous and bitter betrayal he loses everything in an attempt to save his life. In time he comes to realize that putting his former life back together may not be the easiest or wisest decision. Both harrowing and uplifting occurrences continue to divide and reunite the two as their journey becomes a struggle for understanding, acceptance and friendship on their own terms.

The Vampire (THE VAMPIRE Book 1), by Sandrine Genier

Review From Readers Favorite review 8/15/2015 by Diane Lynch:I enjoyed the cultural and historical aspects of this excellent story. The book takes place in numerous locations: New Orleans, Minnesota, Boston, Georgia, Italy, France, and Montreal. They are all so different and add variety to the novel. Sandrine Genier does an amazing job with the plot and writing of The Vampire. It has been a long time since I picked up a book full of so much detail, foreshadowing, and symbolism. There is a lot going on in the story that makes you think. I will anxiously be awaiting the release of the next book to see where it takes us.

The Vampire was such a lovely read that I found myself deliberately slowing down to savor the experience. The book starts off following the main character, Jason, to New Orleans on vacation after he has been laid off. He meets a mysterious man who offers to hire him for a job. But wait...I feel like I'm jumping ahead. And you absolutely cannot jump ahead with this book. With this book, it is the experience that counts.Jason doesn't just go to New Orleans, he shares the culture, food, and experience with the reader. I felt like I was there. The same with London and Boston. I attribute this to the author's absorbing writing style. It was nearly hypnotic.Another hypnotic effect is how she has crafted the characters. I loved both Jason and the vampire. Both were wonderfully charming in their own right. They experience tension, friendship, humor (the scene when the poor vampire has to figure out a grocery store for the first time was hysterical!) and nerve rattling adventures. I felt all of it right there with them. This book was a startling discovery. From the unassuming title, I never expected it to be such a gem. I'm very much looking forward to the next book

This author tells a refreshingly modern story that kept me interested and entertained from cover to cover. If you want hours of escape this is a great piece of fiction. Beware you will become attached to the characters, I found myself wanting to read the next book this author releases!

3 of 3 people found the following review helpful. Kitty Muse Book Reviews By Kitty It started out as a dream job—luxurious housing, travel, use of a high-end car, and more money than he could ever possibly use. Jason is curious though—when is the actual work supposed to start? His employer, Laurent Augere, is secretive, elusive, temperamental—and rarely communicates with Jason, who is supposed to be his “assistant”. Mr. Augere’s lawyers only give Jason enough information to keep him quiet, and he fairly willing to go along with their answers. At least at first. Then things start happening that arouse Jason’s curiosity. Events happen that are – impossible. Such as Augere’s ability to move faster than Jason’s vision can follow, and the way others are almost hypnotized by his very presence. Jason dismisses them as a trick of the eye or a certain tiredness on his part. When he can no longer deny the truth, he must make a decision that could mean his life. This book is a treasure, and I don’t mean that lightly. The author has a gift that is rare—the ability to tease the reader along, page by page and paragraph by paragraph, giving out only enough information to keep the interest super-charged without giving anything away. The well-timed pace is often interrupted by a sudden galloping of drama that is totally unexpected.Laurent Augere is anything but the classical vampire. I won’t give anything away, because he is too fascinating to betray in that manner. However, it is safe to say that he is a blend of sophistication and innocence, vulnerability and viciousness. The experiences he has are both poignant and hilarious. (The part where he is tending to a sick Jason is a great example of this.)I have to be honest—when I finished this book, I felt like the door to a wonderful world was closed to me. Now I am one of the growing ranks of readers who is clamoring for the next book in the series to be released.
