Book file updated on 20-May-2016 Master Microsoft Office 365 like a pro. The second edition (September 2015) of “Office 365 for Exchange Professionals” is essential reading if you're interested in Office 365, Microsoft's cloud office system and includes an additional 25% new material over the first edition. This is the only book on the market that is constantly refreshed and updated with new information to keep pace with developments within Office 365. The rapid cadence and rate of change within Office 365 means that any book that holds to its original text for more than a few months is outdated. According to Microsoft, over 450 changes were made to Office 365 in the year to August 2015. Some 100 million mailboxes are already running on Exchange Online, which Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella calls "the gateway drug to the cloud". Companies are moving workload to Office 365 at increasing speed as can be seen in the steady increase in revenues reported for commercial cloud products in Microsoft's financial results. You can find documentation about Office 365, Exchange Online, and associated technologies on TechNet or scattered across a set of blogs (some of which are great, others are not so good), or you can find it collected here in the single most comprehensive coverage of the topic. Written by three highly experienced Microsoft Most Valuable Professionals (MVPs), Office 365 for Exchange Professionals is a practical hands-on manual based on the experience of the writers gained from working in real-life projects with a range of customers since the introduction of Office 365 in June 2011. The book includes in-depth instructions of all the activities required to migrate an on-premises Exchange deployment or to create a hybrid organization spanning cloud and on-premises components. The book is broken down into 19 chapters and an appendix covering the finer points of directory synchronization, a topic that receives special in-depth attention because it is so critical to migration projects. The chapters are 1: Introducing Office 365. 2: Planning the move to Office 365 3: Migrating to Office 365 4: Managing hybrid connections 5: Managing Office 365 6: Managing Mailboxes 7: Distribution groups and Office 365 Groups 8: Managing Public Folders 9: Managing Addressing 10: Managing hybrid recipients 11: Managing mail flow 12: Office 365 clients 13: Retention policies 14: EDiscovery 15: Information Rights Management 16: Data Loss Prevention 17: Auditing Office 365 18: Making more of Office 365 with SharePoint, OneDrive, and Delve, 19: Preparing Active Directory for the cloud. Appendix A: Directory Synchronization with Office 365 The book is crammed full of practical examples (including nearly five hundred PowerShell code snippets) showing how to interact with Exchange Online and the other parts of Office 365. We update the book file on an ongoing basis to reflect changes that Microsoft make inside Office 365. This is the only book on the market that includes a commitment to update text to keep track with the changing horizon in Office 365. The current version is accurate as of the date shown above. The intent of the authors is to update the book through a series of new versions released periodically to match the updates and new features made available by Microsoft to Office 365 tenants. In addition, we will update the Kindle version of this book to clarify and refine details included in the text, so you can refresh your Kindle library to get the latest text. The next edition (3) is planned for late April or early May 2016. We can't guarantee that the new book will appear then as everything depends on access to software and information from Microsoft, but that's the date in our mind.

Very well written by technical authors and implementers with heavyweight credentials, not random ghostwriters paid to churn out a book. I felt I mostly knew what I was doing before, but the tips and insights in this book are invaluable. Hits all the basics and the deeper areas I don't have to visit often. Glad I waited for the 2nd edition.

I am actually enjoying reading this book. It's informative and written in a casual style with a sense of humor. Good work.
