Best of the 3 reference books I bought By Caseyb7 I bought a new desktop with Windows 8.1 & the immediate free upgrade to Windows 10, previously I had a Windows 7 system.I knew I needed some reference help for the new navigation because no matter what Microsoft says, their systems are NEVER intuitive for the casual computer user. So I watched several helpful videos on Youtube that gave me a visual overview of screens, prompts, navigation and major differences from Windows 7 or 8.Then I went to Amazon looking for books to have on hand to look up things I needed to know in order to actually use the new Windows 10 without being stuck for hours staring at the screen wondering - Huh?My books are actual physical books such that all the illustrations are easy to view - versus many non-computer books I would buy in Kindle format.There are:Windows 10 In Easy Steps - Nick VandomeMy Windows 10 - Katherine MurrayTeach Yourself Visually Windows 10 - Paul McFedriesEach of these you can get an advance feel for using the "Look Inside" feature which is so helpful on Amazon sold books. Also each of these is from a series such that if you've purchased others in the series you know what to expect in terms of style & coverage.Of the 3 I like Windows 10 in Easy Steps best. The mix of narrative & color images is just right for me. The flow is really smooth & the level of detail worked best for me. Windows 10 in Easy Steps is my "get an overview" book which I refer to first. It has the right level of discussion to get me most of the way there.My Windows 10 is my "more detailed read". I like it a ton & absolutely would recommend as well, but it is a bit more content heavy than In Easy Steps. The flow on this is still great with plenty of nice, colored illustrations - but the aesthetics of the presentation are a bit more harsh than In Easy Steps. I use this for granularity about issues after I've done the overview with In Easy Steps.Teach Yourself Visually Windows 10 is okay & I did a separate review immediately upon receipt prior to going back into Amazon for My Windows 10 & Windows 10 In Easy Steps. It is a fine book with nice organization and plenty of color images - it was just way to light for me. The other 2 books gave me enough content detail to navigate through the Windows 10 changes, whereas Teach Yourself Visually really just makes you aware of the changes/freatures without enough detail to work through them. Still a good book, just for a different type of user than I.So, my opinion but Windows 10 is still a challenge and having a friendly reference at my side has been helpful and these books have each filled a particular niche in my learning curve - although YouTube should not be ignored as an aide.Best of luck - Windows 10 at this writing (Oct 17) is still unstable & full of glitches.
