Middle of the road By Katie Jean I could barely put this trilogy down, but that might be mostly because I felt like something interesting was about to happen, but nothing really did until the 3rd book. The universe was really intriguing, but I felt like the first two books were so slow that the third book ended up having all the important events jam-packed together. I think the first two books could have been covered in the first book (or first half of the first book, even) and allowed better pacing for the events of the third book.So anyway, on to the story itself. Some elements were predictable, some were sort of random. The main characters seemed to always make the wrong decisions, but it somehow works out in their favor. I really wanted to like Calen, but he made some really idiotic decisions, repeatedly. He grew stronger as the story progressed but he didn't seem to grow any wiser. Several times, the story seems to be setting something up, but nothing comes of it.So it's not a bad read, but it's not the best read either. It's certainly entertaining, just don't expect too much.

Lamoureux By the time I was half-way through the book I had my doubts about whether or not the main characters were going to die! Interesting and moderately compelling read. Very good story - and I have not come across any misspelled words or wrong words used (there instead of their, for example). Finally, an author that either does the proofreading herself, or has a competent publisher.
