By Austen Brennan This story takes a much slower and somber turn from the other books in the McClane Apocalypse Series. Without giving too much away, your heart will ache for several of the main characters, and the book as a whole will leave you hoping their situation improves.As warned in the beginning, you meet and delve into the perspectives of several new characters, which I feel adds a very nice extra layer to the story. We get some very deep and thorough backstories which give us incite into the situation around the country over the time since the apocalypse began. You'll fall in love with the new characters, just like you fell in love with the McClane's.When I say the book takes a slower turn, I mean it. There's still plenty of action in it for the adrenaline readers, but it's not the primary focus of the story. Regardless of pace, I feel that readers will love this book, especially if they've been loyal fans of the series like myself. As a fellow author about to break into the world of post-apocalyptic fiction, I like reading books within this genre to see other authors' takes on the apocalypse and how to survive it. In my humble opinion, Mrs. Morris' series is hands down one of the best out there. Well worth the read, I highly recommend it!

One of the characters has undergone a complete transformation and no longer behaves the way she did throughout the first 3 books. After reading the whole book I really get the feeling that some one else may have written this - it is that big of a difference from the other books. I feel as if there was very little creative effort put into this book. Sadly disappointing.

I really didn't think I'd like the focus to be on other characters - but boy was I wrong. It was well worth the wait and the price (and I hate paying full price!)Without giving away any SPOILERS - I'll say this: The ending came way too fast for me and I hate the melancholy of one of the characters. I know that was intentional by the author, but it really got to me.
