The #1 Bestseller!
From #1 Bestselling author Morgan Rice comes a sweeping new epic fantasy series: Rise of the Dragons (Kings and Sorcerers-Book 1).
Kyra, 15, dreams of becoming a famed warrior, like her father, even though she is the only girl in a fort of boys. As she struggles to understand her special skills, her mysterious inner power, she realizes she is different than the others. But a secret is being kept from her about her birth and the prophecy surrounding her, leaving her to wonder who she really is.
When Kyra comes of age and the local lord comes to take her away, her father wants to wed her off to save her. Kyra, though, refuses, and she journeys out on her own, into a dangerous wood, where she encounters a wounded dragon-and ignites a series of events that will change the kingdom forever.
15 year old Alec, meanwhile, sacrifices for his brother, taking his place in the draft, and is carted off to The Flames, a wall of flames a hundred feet high that wards off the army of Trolls to the east. On the far side of the kingdom, Merk, a mercenary striving to leave behind his dark past, quests through the wood to become a Watcher of the Towers and help guard the Sword of Fire, the magical source of the kingdom's power. But the Trolls want the Sword, too-and they prepare for a massive invasion that could destroy the kingdoms forever.
With its strong atmosphere and complex characters, Rise of the Dragons is a sweeping saga of knights and warriors, of kings and lords, of honor and valor, of magic, destiny, monsters and dragons. It is a story of love and broken hearts, of deception, of ambition and betrayal. It is fantasy at its finest, inviting us into a world that will live with us forever, one that will appeal to all ages and genders.

I am greatly disappointed with this book. It is so much of a sequel bait book that it is honestly insulting to the reader. The book itself is riddled with errors and mistakes. I can usually find one in the first sentence alone not to mention the entire page. The stories of Alec and the former mercenary are interesting but show no correspondence with the rest of the story and are left incomplete. The only saving grace is the at times very fluid imagery and wonderful word choice, but these add a tiny sparkle the the pile of feces this book turns out to be. Get an editor Morgan or at least proof your work. I am a high school student and I can pick out errors so easily from this book, you should be able to at least make the book presentable instead of rushing a book for a quick buck.

The concept seems decent, but the story tends to repeat, and multiple characters who occupy entire chapters, never see a climax in this book. I understand that the author is trying to keep people coming back to get closure, but it's bad writing. The ending is abrupt, and most of what little tension she had built is lost in a single page. Of course, most people probably wouldn't get past chapter 3 before being overwhelmed by the elementary level writing. Some useful tips for Ms. Rice:1. Pronouns are a good thing, use them more often.2. Use some creativity to get outside of the character's head. Tell a little more of the story instead of focusing so much on how respected or ignored the character feels. On that note...3. We get it, it's important to all of your characters to be recognized. Saying it 3 times in each chapter is completely unnecessary.4. Please, please, please, have someone proof your work before you subject innocent readers to it. They'll tell you that some things don't make sense, or that you missed words, or mixed up names, or maybe even that this entire story could not possibly take place in just two days, even if the people in Escalon never slept like some of them do in your book.

I have just finished reading this new Morgan Rice Book “The Rise of the Dragons” (Kings and Sorceres--Book 1 This is the first Morgan Rice Book I have read and I must say I was completely under her spell as she wove her story, like weaving a grand tapestry. Intersecting her story with threads of other lives. Young Kyra is a young motherless girl growing up in her fathers fort, her constant companion a wolf. She so wants to be a warrior, but it is forbidden for a female. I love how this story plays out, with glimpses of other lives, that we just know will eventually impact Kyra somehow. I am now awaiting the next book to see how this adventure plays out. Oh and did I mention the Dragon? No, well you must read this book.........
