An awe-inspiring story By Shane So it finally happened, in this story a large amount of the human population had been wiped out by constant war and to finish it off a scientist introduced a DNA altering substance that changed people and gave them magical powers.That's not exactly where the story begins; it begins in a park with a young woman brimming with wild magic who went by the name of Ember who meets up with a friend in a park. From then onward the story flows through the history and the future of the world. Filled with magic and super descriptive scenes I am amazed at the detail and care that went into this story.From the moment I picked it up I felt a level of interest burring inside my soul to keep reading and in some regards it reminds me of the many types of Anime I watch.The potential love between the major character and the fate that's install for her is another aspect that keeps the reader hooked also the prospect of the caste groups going to war over one simple person who got 100% in their exams baffles the mind. Although I do find the beginning a little overwhelming with information, I urge the reader to continue, it suddenly explodes like a flower blooming in the sunlight after the first ten pages.As expected her movements are watched by the people in charge and with her ability to create doubles of herself, this story just keeps adding more dept and layers to keep set you up for a mind-blowing adventure.The author in this story has a great talent and very in-depth tale that is defiantly worth a paperback copy to read, forget the kindle, this is one for the books. I highly recommend this.Shane

You really feel Ember’s isolation, fear and courage as she decides to face her hostile social environment, this scorn is all she knows as the local misfit. But she does discover that she is not as alone as she feels, and the friends she finds are not as afraid of her wild power as she expects. I found the dynamic between the various characters intriguing, and it just drew me into this action packed story.Seeing this though the eyes these young people, who are about take their place in the world and the pressures they expect to face, takes the reader into many surprises as they find out that scores from school and graduation are the least of their worries. I really enjoyed exploring this universe created by S. G. Dean. The balance of technology and magic in their society feels natural on this future Earth.I look forward to learning more about the historic forces that led from the world we know today to the society we get a glimpse of through the turmoil that these characters face. I am looking forward to the next book in this series as there are some great avenues to explore.
