I hope there will be a sequel because I don't feel like I'm ready to depart with the story yet By karla mejia The Laptev Virus was such an exciting read! Esmahan's story captivated me from the very first page and kept me hooked up until the end. I devoured the book during my commute to and from work and am not ashamed to admit that I actually hoped there would be just a little more traffic so that I could keep reading to find out what happens next. I hope there will be a sequel because I don't feel like I'm ready to depart with the story yet.

This is the first work of fiction I've purchased for the Kindle, and I wasn't disappointed. The story centers on oil exploration in the Arctic, climate change, accidents in biology labs, a cat parasite, and corporate intrigue. (Too say anything else would be a spoiler). The characters are reasonably well developed and you can imaging having a conversation with them..

This book is a surprising and insightful look into the life of a researcher. It also deals with questions of ethics, first world versus developing world medicine, and what to do when no one is watching.
