By Book fanatic Book 0neA young teenager, somewhat geeky and skinny, anything but a superhero type, suddenly develops superpowers. A young girl comes back from the dead, but is not really the dead girl. Another young girl on a search as to why the dead girl has returned and is acting so different, and aiming her eyes at her boyfriend. All together this adds up to a fun read. With the exception of immediate powers, the book builds up slowly in explaining Ted's purpose in receiving superpowers out of the blue, and what he is capable of. It is interesting finding out though, and Ted has a lot of fun with learning, whilst he deals with the media spotlight and high school. The characters of Ted and his best friend, as well as Natalie, are well developed and well formed. I would have liked to know a bit more about the bad guys,but this does come out later in the book, so questions were answered there. There was very little bad language, no graphic violent descriptions and no erotic sex scenes, which are all a plus in my opinion. The novel was well paced and funny and raced towards the end. I look forward to future events in this series.This is the second book in the series and picks up the story several months after the conclusion of the the first one. Things have changed in Treasure: Ted and Erica have been training hard, the Department of Homeland Security is keeping tabs on the teen superhero, Dhiraj has crowd funded the hi-tech lair, and the anti-Ted movement: ‘Go Home Alien’ is growing at an alarming rate.If you haven’t read the first book, I would suggest starting with that first. Although you will be able to read this one alone, there is a lot that will make more sense if they are read in order.The series follows the ‘Hero’s Journey’. Ted begins as a behind-the-scenes High School student that comes into his supernatural powers suddenly and must face trials on his continued path toward his destiny. He must build confidence and gain courage to fight evil (supernatural and the regular criminal kind). Add a dash of uncertainty, some betrayal, and a build-up to a big battle.This Superhero/Sci-Fi/Fantasy book/series is very clean. It is entertaining, quick to read and has short chapters, which are great when you don't have a lot of time to read. The main characters are all teens, dealing with normal teenage problems as well as "saving the world" problems. The dialogue flows well and feels comfortable. The story is easy to read and contains all the necessary elements to make it fun, exciting and addictive. It would be a great way to introduce teens to scifi/fantasy, and also adults who enjoy something more fun. The dialogue flows well and feels comfortable with lots of action, character development, and a solid, well thought out plot. I enjoyed this one more than the first one, as the characters have now become family! The author draws you into the books and you feel like part of the team. Looking forward to the next one!Book threeTed is only getting better with each book in series! His powers are growing and he is learning at a steady pace. Ted and his team continue to grab you from the beginning of the book to the very end. The author keeps the storyline fresh with new challenges for Ted to face in each book.The dimensions and depths of each character continues to grow and there are always as well as new ones alomg the way. Some quite surprising. I'm enjoying getting to know them, understand them, and care about them. I love how they all work as a team and the women are also strong, independent and likeable. Very few authors don't write strong women well. Each character shows faults, fears and and a willingness to do whatever it takes to help Ted. While Ted is saving the world, his friends are doing their part right beside him. He is never truly doing this alone.The author merges many genres into something that's light, yet makes me hold my breath. Science fiction, mystery, political intrigue, time/portal travel, fantasy etc. Quite a feat and all well blended to make the story work.The series flow so well from one book to the next, although this one has quite a cliffhanger. The author draws us in and makes us care about the characters and the world they are fighting for, which means you can't wait for the next book in the series. This is one series Sher you wonder where the book will take you next. Well. At least we know the next one starts with right through a portal into another world.Cannot wait for book 4. Recommend this book and this series.

I've written other reviews about the individual books, but now that I see it is being sold as a set, I wanted to make sure to put in my two cents here as well! Ted is the perfect, self-effacing protagonist for a YA series, and the cast is rounded out well by strong female characters and hilarious comic relief. Bryan Cohen steers clear of most of the foibles usually found in YA series; the adults aren't stupid, the characters aren't one-dimensional, and each book grows the mythology of the series rather than relying on recyclable, plug-and-play plot construction. It's fast, fun, and I can't wait for Book Four!!

I’m Ted!” No matter how many times I read that one line, I crack up! It sets the stage for the rest of the book and everything that follows. As Bryan’s first novel, Ted Saves the World it is a great one! I thoroughly enjoyed this book! It is pegged as a YA novel but will appeal to all ages who are looking for a great read. You follow Ted, who is basically just your “average geeky, shy awkward teen” become way more than he ever dreams about & as he comes to realize that it is not all it is cracked up to be! He has help from his best friend Dhiraj who is like a combination of Bill Gates and Donald Trump all rolled into one, his girlfriend/ex-girlfriend Natalie and Erica who was his next door neighbor (and the girl of his dreams) who has been missing and presumed dead and “magically” comes back from the grave, but now has a warrior housed inside of her. This book has it all - comedy, fighting, romance, magic, time travel and junk food. Hey, it is a book with teenagers in it! Point is, this is a great novel to be enjoyed by all! But don’t take my word for it, buy & read it for yourself!Mind Over Easy by Bryan CohenYou’re freakin’ Super Bryan!!! 5 stars“You can do whatever the hell you want!” Man I love that quote from Natalie! Ok, it is actually Ted she is talking about but I think it fits for Bryan. This is the second book in the Ted series and in my opinion it is so much more interesting & engrossing and I just loved it!!! In fact I loved it so much I read it all in one go!! I love how it picks up from where we left Ted and the gang. I found that because everything was basically established - people & worlds – and all of the groundwork was already laid in book 1 (Ted Saves the World), this book can just take off and run with the story now. Don’t make any mistakes - this is NOT just some piece of fluff YA book. My opinion here - I think back to another certain kid/YA series that started off with book 1 being geared for a much younger audience but as it progressed (both in story and fans/readers) it became more mature and darker so that by the time you even got to book 3 or 4, you could easily see the difference in writing etc. I compare that difference to these 2 Ted books. To me this one is that much more “mature” and will appeal to a wider or “older” audience. I love how deep it is, how “real” the people and situations are. I like that there are many facets to Ted & the others, and that while they are still in high school they are actually understanding each other on another level & maturing enough to truly help each other as friends above the “typical” teen way of thinking. I really enjoyed this one more than the first because there are lots of new interesting twists and turns, more “meat” in the story and you get to know Ted’s friends (and enemies) more with a lot more information on “new Erica” and the war that has been waging for years and the one they are trying to prevent. I SO CANNOT WAIT FOR MORE TED! Great job Bryan and if this is any indication as to how the storyline will progress, then I predict that you will have an EPIC series in your hands!!!Portal Combat by Bryan CohenI LOVE Ted!!!! 5 starsFantastic story!! I have been reading this series from the start and with each book I keep getting more & more obsessed with them!!!! I find that the characters are “real”, well as real as can be for the ones that are not from this plane or from this planet even!! I love how the group of Ted and his friends want to be able to enjoy senior year like every other senior before them, but at the same time, they run to help save whomever needs saving, regardless of their capabilities! (or lack of them!) I also really like how even though they are all “famous” or get recognized by the public, they have literally saved the lives of everyone on the planet, heck even the saved the planet as well, they are all still teenagers with teen problems, thoughts, desires and concerns – like what they are going to do next year after they graduate. I love all the twists and turns and how unpredictable it is!!! The one main point I want to mention is that I love how each book just flows straight into the next one. There isn’t any “wasted” time doing re-caps etc. so if you were to sit and read all of the books straight through, you are not getting blasted with a lot of redundant information and the little bits that are there for re-caps are worked into the story. The characters may daydream, have nightmares, something reminds them of something or someone else and they “reflect” back on it. In my opinion that just adds charm to it and makes for a smoother and more enjoyable read. Bryan has done a terrific job keeping track of all of the various people, whose on the Dark side and on the Light, the magics, powers, abilities, relationships and the whole story arc straight! Not that it is a lot and hard to follow as a reader, but to be able to keep it all consistent through ALL of the books so far is awesome!!! I imagine that by the time we get to The End, this series is going to both feel and read as one massively well written adventure of epic proportions!!! Which also showcases the phenomenal talent that Bryan has!! Not an easy job to tackle a story of this calibre so successfully…so far, but by the time we reach the Grand Finale I am more than confident in Bryan that it will be an Ending to End all Endings!! Every book I read of this series just keeps getting better and better and has had me so enthralled that I actually finished this book in record time for me!!! Cannot wait to read the next book! Heck, I can’t wait to read the WHOLE SERIES!! As with the two previous books (which do need to be read in order) they are books that everyone should read!
