1 of 1 people found the following review helpful. Psych 101 Required Reading By Tad Okay, I'm going to really enjoy this neat book about a genie and three wishes, right? Simple plot, witty, clear writing, and some quirky characters - animal, human, and out of this worldly. Not so fast, my friend. If Big Change Gonna Come were simply about a guy and two friends making three wishes, the book wouldn't take almost two hundred pages.So what's the catch? Anyone familiar with Meyers-Briggs or Minnesota Multiphasic Personality Inventory testing would know. Vic is a processor, an off the chart ISTJ, folks, or in MMPI terms, a hysteric psychastheniac with lots of hypomania. And friend Stan and Father O'Malley are bits and pieces of all seven traits. It turn out that the wishes aren't important (and get screwed up anyway.) It's the wish making process that absolutely delights these guys. And all the while the omniscient, Omar-god of a genie stays within ten paces, bemoaning the day he ever created these nuts specifically, and mankind in general. He probably thinks he should have stopped with the lower animals, like cats, and dogs who roll up into scrolls. But come to think of it, maybe he classifies raven-haired, swooning women as acceptable as the cats.Mark my words, folks, this little book will show up in Psych 101 classes at a university near you. Students, profs, and impatient lottery players (for God's sake, man, take the money!) are going to have quite a bit of fun with this one.

A fun romp By Gary D Zenker Big Change Gonna Come answers the question of what would someone do if they were given a genie...errrr, a djinn, and three wishes. And suppose that the djinn is more like Don Rickles than Mother Teresa. What would happen?Apparently, a lot. Although there aren't any huge surprises in the story, it is interesting to see what happens as the characters progress and unsuccessfully try to plan to avoid the disasters others have wished themselves into. Even what seems like a well thought out plan comes with unintended consequences (think: The Monkey's Paw) and solving them isn't easy. It is a fun romp that makes readers draw their own conclusions on what they themselves might do if in the situation.A fun read.

A genie and three wishes is an oft told tale butthis time it's given an unusual twist. How do you make three wishes thatbenefit yourself and those around you, when in reality, the one wish youdearly want to make is for your genie (a real jerk) to just go away? And inthe main character's case, he's keenly aware the he MUST be careful what hewishes for, otherwise the consequences could be disastrous. How he resolveshis dilemma is both funny and touching and surprising. Highly recommended!
