He is the youngest and the shortest of the five sons of farmer Daniel Dubois and therefore he is the most protected in the family. He cooks for his brothers and the farm workers and all-in-all has a pretty sheltered existence. He breaks that shelteredness when he meets Jake Maguire during a fight between the wolf pack and his brothers. Skye feels drawn to the handsome stranger, that is until said handsome stranger breaks his wrist. Now in the midst of trying to forge some sort of relationship with Jake, he has to deal with the wrath of his overprotective brothers. Skye will either end up hurt again, or embarrassed beyond all recognition...possible both.

2 of 2 people found the following review helpful. Needs a do-over (MILD SPOILAGE) By Lora905 First of all, this book is in serious need of an editor. Not just any editor, but one who won't lose his/her temper when they see how much work they have to. I understand having some mistakes, but some of these should have been just basic knowledge. The punctuation was horrible, which of course leads to run-on sentences in many places. A lot of typos, and it's not a good look when you misspell the name of an MC (left the "y" off the end of Skye).There was very little character development, which means there wasn't a single person I cared about, and no world building. There were issues with verb tense switches (going back & forth between past and present tense). Both the writing and the dialogue was at all times either cheesy or stilted. And there were several plot holes: 1) Why was Skye, the smallest & most timid thing in the whole book, taking walks through the woods at night when everyone knew there was a dangerous shooter out? 2) Why would Jake invite Skye into that type of danger, taking him on a walk? 3) At one point when Jake's pack was looking for clues, they found a small one. A couple of pages later it said they'd never found any clues. 4) Why is this pack so careless as to letting people catch them shifting? I've never read anything like this. I've only read where the shift took place before they left their house and after they got back. Knowing they shared that area, they were practically shifting in public. 5) I know the town is tiny, but how boring is it that so many non-shifters choose to hang out in the woods at night, ie, Ashley? And craziest of all, I semi-understand Skye agreeing to go out with Jake, but to suddenly decide to sleep with, move in with, and declare your forever love ONE WEEK after an impossibly disastrous first meeting?For the record, the sex comes at 90% and is very basic and quick. The only thing I really liked, and actually wished more writers would do, is the inclusion of another level of wolf shifter; this pack has an alpha, several betas, and at least one gamma. I hadn't heard that used in a while. Other than that, the book could actually stand to be rewritten.

Writing flawed but storyline fun By Sierra I always like Stretke's storylines although I find the writing a little flowery, stilted, and a tad melodramatic. There is a lot of cheesiness which I can really appreciate every once in a while. As happens in so many of the "fated mates" stories of the genre, the courtship and claiming are very rushed and the level of trust and acceptance that Skye shows is pretty unbelievable. For those who don't like rapidly shifting perspectives this will be a tough read. We're inside someone's head, third person, all the time but it bounces around a lot. Still, a quick, fun read if you just go with it.

Jake doesn’t know if he will ever get him mate to come near him ever again. Skye thinks that Jake is a monster and thinks that Jake is out to kill him. Will Skye ever be able to be around Jake again? Will Skye ever be able to forgive Jake and build a life with him? Will Skye’s brothers let Jake near him, or will Jake win them over? You will have to read to find out if Skye will forgive Jake.
