A slightly less intense read than the rest of the series By Kat Caffee The culture shift into a mashup of steampunk and fantasy continues in this book. Many of the loose ends that have been left unattended are tied up in this book, along with a definite hand off between the old heroine and the new generation to carry the story forward.It is a solid addition to the series, though I felt there was something missing. The pace of the tale was fast enough to keep it interesting, and the characters did make some progress in their personal growth arcs, just not much. Perhaps the missing element was that much of the story in this installment was that Brian was gathering up the loose ends and tying them into a neat knot. Or perhaps because this tale was more plot driven than character driven. I'm not exactly sure - and why I did not give this one the same stellar 5 star rating I have given the others.Overall, this was still an interesting read. I just wonder if this is the end of the series, or the foundations to springboard into a new direction.

I can only hope that there will be more books; to take us further into the lives of the main characters. I have read all the books in the series and I can honestly say; I read all the books without reading any other books till I had completed the series.
