A Story That Will Become A Classic In Time Travel Literature By David Fowler I first read "The River" in the time travel anthology "Synchronic: 13 Tales of Time Travel" It was my introduction to Jennifer Ellis and it's by far the best story in the collection. When I saw that she'd released this story as a single I gladly spent the $0.99.Ellis has a gift for drawing the reader in using a very simple device; she's an EXCELLENT writer! The ability of the Kindle World to allow almost anyone to pen a novel has been both liberating as well as discouraging. Anyone here who's paid good money to read a poorly written and/or poorly edited Kindle novel knows what I mean. Ellis' talent lies in her wonderful ability to keep your focus on the story and the characters and not on the actual writing. Think about the great writers of literature and you'll notice the similarity.Fans of Time Travel stories as well as Sci-Fi will thoroughly enjoy Ellis' complex storyline. We meet Sarah, a woman with a haunted past who suddenly finds herself with a unique opportunity to go back and undo a horrible mistake in her life. Ellis weaves a series of complications into the story that keep us wondering how it will play out. If you could go back and change something in your life, would you? What would the long-term implications of such a change be? Adding a romance factor into the story makes it all the more enjoyable. Will Sarah's new choices make things better or will the "Butterfly Effect" catch up with her?Spend the $0.99 and you'll not be disappointed. You'll also be able to say you read Jennifer Ellis back before she was famous! Seriously.

Ellis deals nicely with the paradoxes of time travel but then adds her own layer of paradox into the mix, adding depth and nuance to the story. Recommended.
