Creation is Doomed… Nyx, Queen of Hell, lies broken and burning in a box at the bottom of the Lake of Fire, put there but her lover Tribunal, who is God’s Son. Nyx’s daughter Epiphenia, has been slaughtered by Tribunal and Lucifer. Her companions, Persephone and Ishtar, were captured and are now suffering unspeakable torture. Lucifer, one Nyx’s second-in-command, has taken over Hell and is ruling with a depraved will and an iron fist. And on Earth, Arcana, Angel of Heaven, has arrived a thousand years too late. And that isn’t even the worst of it. Tribunal is going to destroy the human race, if he can keep God from noticing. He’s already building a wall of illusion to hide creation from the eyes of God. And when that wall is complete, Tribunal will order Lucifer to take his Descended Angels and destroy all of humanity. And that’s just for a start. Now the Angels in Heaven and the Queen of Hell must join forces to defeat a greater power than any of them have ever faced, and at stake is the very existence of Creation, and of God himself!

Review Silver Medal - 2015 Readers' Favorite International Book Awards

From the Author John's personal favorite from his short body of work.

About the Author John Patrick Kennedy has been writing stories ever since he could write.  At first, his imagination was his escape from a difficult childhood, where he never seemed to "fit in."  Other kids taunted him for being different and John began to create worlds in his stories where he could feel safe and secure; stronger and more confident. When John grew older, he discovered a taste for wanderlust and adventure.  As a young man, he travelled the world with little but what he could carry on his back.  He has climbed Denali, hiked the Amazon, and even spent a year in Japan, teaching English and feeding deer in the famous Nara Park.  His love of Asian history and philosophy has led him to become a master at Jeet Kune Do and a practicing Taoist.John now divides his time between two homes, one in New York City, the other in London.  He is married with a beautiful little girl who inspires and captivates him.  They share their homes with a loyal, loving, German Shepherd. A man of many interests and talents, John has been a world-ranked tennis pro, a ballroom dancer, chef... and of course, he remains, and always will be a writer.  All of John's many interests and adventures have inspired his writing.  In addition, his imagination is so vivid and dear, it is almost as if he lives part-time within a third home in his mind, an inner world his readers glimpse when they read his novels.John writes on a Macbook Pro and finds himself hardly able to go a day without creating something, be it an idea in infancy, or one of the many novels he has going at any time.  He is prolific and some friends say, even manic in the pursuit and perfection of his craft.  He loves to rip wide open his readers' minds, showing them something--a world, a character--they have never read or experienced before.johnpatrickkennedy.nettwitter.com/JohnPatKennedy

By jennifer papin This book, and it's predecessor, Plague of Angels, are a fun, different, exciting take on the fall of Gods Angels and their 'adventures' on Earth, Heaven and in Hell. Nyx, the Queen of Hell, is the multi layered main character of these fab reads, and I'd want her on my side! If you are super religious with no sense of humor, look away, this one may not be for you. Angels above, Angels below, with some God and his not so good after all son make up a completely original story from beginning to end. Chock full of sex, war, torture & sarcasm - BUT it's also got a fair amount of love and loyalty. Yep, you read that right. This isn't your typical good vs evil book, but that's the crux of it (but don't tell Nyx, evil personified - I'd hate to piss her off).I'm unsure as to why the books are as cheap as they are - I've read terrible books for tons more money, and so far this year I've enjoyed Kennedy's two Angel books the most. Found the first a few weeks ago on Book Bub, then immediately preordered this one. Buy them, read them, promote them! I want Kennedy to write more books, ASAP!

Brooklyn born of Irish ancestry, now dividing his time between New York City and London, he seems to have inherited the Irish genes for wild tales and has the courage to make his own stories challenging to the conservative readers with such a flair for showmanship that the result of his courageous wanderings through myth, religion, and those oh-so-sacred stories that form our concept of a universe that makes sense (read `creationism') in such a way that within the scope of a prologue and first chapter he has everyone testing his talents assured that here is a new writer of style that is uniquely his own. This movie star good-looking young man is an adventurer (it doesn't take long to figure that out from his writing), a ballroom dancer and as he has said on his blogs: `I enjoy art (painting and illustrations are my favs), reading other authors, cooking, writing (obviously), tennis [a former Wimbledon champion!], fitness, and almost anything that doesn't involve politics. I've gotten about 300 messages about who I am. I'm just the guy who wrote awesomely sick book w/evil angels. Read it if you like angels :).' And that was in reference to the initial book (thankfully a series he calls `The Descended'), PLAGUE OF ANGELS. Now with Book 2 his craft is even more polished and more visceral. For instance, take a breath and sample his opening Prologue:' At the bottom of the Lake of Fire, Nyx, Queen of Hell, writhed in silent agony. Her mouth was wide open in a scream but no sound came out. There was no air, just the cold fire of the lake filling her broken mouth and lungs, burning away her flesh from both inside and out with a fire as cold as the void. If she had been an ordinary soul, she would have been stripped to nearly nothing and left to float on the surface until she was pulled out of the lake and sent to the Palace of the Queen of Hell for judgment. But Nyx was not an ordinary soul. She was the Queen of the Descended Angels, the most powerful among them. Her Angelic flesh should have healed, even in the Lake of Fire. She should have been able to pull herself out. And even now, in the tiny corner of her brain that was still sane, she felt her body starting to heal, felt the broken edges of the bones knitting themselves together, the silver ichor that was her blood regenerating and repairing tissue. Then the new flesh and bone would come up against the jagged edges of Hellstone built into the sides of the box that Lucifer and Tribunal, the Son of God, had put her in. The flesh would tear, bones would strain, then snap; new agony would fill her body.'But on to the storyline: `Creation is Doomed...Nyx, Queen of Hell, lies broken and burning in a box at the bottom of the Lake of Fire, put there but her lover Tribunal, who is God's Son. Nyx's daughter Epiphenia, has been slaughtered by Tribunal and Lucifer. Her companions, Persephone and Ishtar, were captured and are now suffering unspeakable torture. Lucifer, one Nyx's second-in-command, has taken over Hell and is ruling with a depraved will and an iron fist. And on Earth, Arcana, Angel of Heaven, has arrived a thousand years too late. Tribunal is going to destroy the human race, if he can keep God from noticing. He's already building a wall of illusion to hide creation from the eyes of God. And when that wall is complete, Tribunal will order Lucifer to take his Descended Angels and destroy all of humanity. Now the Angels in Heaven and the Queen of Hell must join forces to defeat a greater power than any of them have ever faced, and at stake is the very existence of Creation, and of God himself!'SCORN OF ANGELS will offend some, anger others, and entertain others. Whether or not the reader can deal with the story content, it is obvious the author has a keen way with characterization, dialogue, and warped fantasy. He writes very well and this is another book that will most assuredly be talked about! And it doesn't feel like the series is over.....Grady Harp, April 15

Staughton These types of book (extreme fantasy, sci-fi, dark fiction) are often overwritten or so heavy-handed that they aren't enjoyable to read, and yet Kennedy manages to nail a tone and a plot that is a perfect balance of philosophy, fiction, sex, violence, scheming, and even humor. After reading the first book in the series, I was bound to pick up the second, and I'm very glad that I did. I think that Nyx is one of my favorite new villains that I love to hate, and instead of being a one-dimensional "destroy the world" type baddie, she has a real personality and a sinister aura that Kennedy clearly enjoyed writing. Delving into the imagined battles between angels and devils is hardly a new approach to fiction, but this is something quite unique, in that we see the sides of good and evil, but also the grey area in between, where one side occasionally dips their toes for their own ends. Kennedy gave these larger than life characters insecurities, fears, ambitions, and emotions just like humans, and then lets them play out their epic quests for power in a book that will keep you riveted to a chair until the very last page. It's hard to create an imaginary war between potentially imaginary beings and have readers still be able to engage and care, but Kennedy managed to really grab me by the throat and never let me go. The tongue-in-cheek humor and sexy elements were unexpected, but delightful, surprises in this book, and I will certainly be picking up more of Kennedy's writing in the future.
