Fernandez Edwardo Raphael Daniel Yates, or Zed as prefers to be called, is finally going home. Back to Earth; back to the land of the free and the home of the brave. His job is done. He has saved two worlds, three if you include Earth, from the ravening hordes of the Creednax, and he has even manage to save most of his crew, despite the long odds. His new, if very alien, starship is purring like a kitten, the young woman he loves is sitting at his side and all is well with the world. Or so he thinks for exactly eighty seven more seconds.

The Ugly By KenGordon THE GOOD: An interesting take on how Terrans got started; good science fiction read; entertainment value for those "down" times.THE BAD: The last, say, 20% of the story is just ridiculous even for science "fiction"; there was no need for the AI's to become sexual objects with various nipple colors; gosh-awful was the lead character dying and then being digitally reborn.THE UGLY: A 30-something male having a 15-year-old girlfriend and sexual partner. In my world of criminal law, we call that felony sexual assault of a minor; marrying that child without parental consent is still a felony even if you are a starship captain or fleet commander or sector governor or whatever; sexual arousal by Artificial Intelligent imaginary female digital somethings.SUMMARY: An OK story idea crudely presented and detracted thereby.

The writing continued to be good and the usual problems of self published authors were hardly apparent. The storyline picked up relatively well from book one, but I felt there was opportunity for the connection to earth to be a bit more profound. I felt (without spoilers) that for a while they were fighting for a dead planet as opposed to the human race.It could have been a great read but was only good. It just felt rushed and not as clean as it could be.I'll still be looking for book 3.

This second one begins very slowly and for a long while all they do is oogle their high tech machinery. Eventually the one dimensional insectoid enemy catches up with them (nothing new about the enemy) and sends wave after wave of fleets which are fought off in unimaginative battles. The A.I.'s which Zed has rebooted find a way to expand their powers and become goddesses. For all the good it seems to do anyone. This happens because Zed simply trusts them more than their makers did. Very naive.

By Rabid Readers Reviews Trish and Megan are settled in their relationships and lives and accustomed to their powers. Megan is called upon to ease a truck out of the mud and the Helpful Ladies pitch in by popping in and via their psychic network. Henry’s rich tapestry of Helpful Ladies from around the world gives a wider scope to this story to the overall character landscape. Where there is one Melinkova, a logical reader knows there will be more. In the immediate view of Trish and Megan is the coming of age of their own daughters. This natural progression is especially poignant for Trish who has feared the moment from the time her young daughter, Tammy, looked up into a tree only to find herself at the top of it before falling to earth. In a very human moment, we go with Megan and Trish as they introduce Megan’s daughter, Emma, to flying and also to the very real responsibility she faces as a Helpful Lady.Melinkova is especially interesting. She awakes in the future to find herself in someone else’s body and bad situation and in complete control. She’s baffled by progress but what we know about her is that she is a truly damaged person who wants to control something. Melinkova also desperately wants a connection and it is in the connection with Rhonda Sue Skinner that we see Melinkova’s truest self. Rhonda Sue Skinner is also something of a masterpiece of a unique character. I’d like to say that we meet her at a low point but her life seems to be a constant low point. Her brother dies in prison, her ex-boyfriend comes into the bar with the woman that perhaps overlapped their relationship. That’s just the start of Rhonda Sue’s country song of bad luck. Rhonda is a character who clearly never helps herself and is sad yet fascinating to read.Henry gives us time to savor with the women we know from the first novel while pushing an action packed storyline that I simply did not want to put down. I want more. “Rogue Goddesses” is a wonderfully thrilling story. “Rogue Goddesses” is a 15 star out of five stars read. If you like this sort of novel but haven’t read the first, the latter novel stands easily on its own. Pick both up today and plan a relaxing evening of holiday awesomeness.

2 of 2 people found the following review helpful. Goddesses Reign! By W.P. Smith I read American Goddesses in 2013 and fell in love with the storyline. It had me so entranced. The ability of the writer to be so intricate in his characters, his plots, his fortitude to make the characters into true beings in the novel. After a few months, I knew he was writing a sequel to the amazing American Goddesses, and I anticipated it for what felt like forever! I have read ROGUE GODDESSES, American Goddesses, Book 2, more than once and I can state clearly, I'll be reading it again!Rogue Goddesses takes you beyond the unbelievable and makes you believe the story. Makes me wonder how our world would be with the Goddesses in charge! From beginning to end, I allowed myself to dive deeply into the characters and follow them on a journey I could not imagine in my own mind! Gary Henry didn't miss a thing in this sequel by thoroughly defining each character and making sure you didn't know what was going to happen next! Speaking of characters, you might find a bit of myself within the story lines as well!I advise everyone to read American Goddesses first to truly enjoy this sequel, but whether you have or not, Rogue Goddesses will have you ready to go back & read American Goddesses, then read Rogue Goddesses again! The details of the events in the story bring it to life. I felt the heartaches of the characters. The evilness of other characters. I visited places in my mind that were so real because Henry detailed places and characters to perfection. Written so well defined, it all ends up to be one spectacular novel series!I tend to tell too much about a book, so I'm not going to spoil this one for anyone! I will end in saying this.....Once in a while, one has an opportunity to marvel at someone's work which is so very well written you cannot wait to read their next work!Thank you Gary for a read that will be one of my all time greats!

2 of 2 people found the following review helpful. The Goddesses Are Back! By E.L. Lindley The beauty of Rogue Goddesses by Gary Henry is that it works both as a standalone novel or a fitting sequel to the wonderfully entertaining American Goddesses. Henry cleverly uses a prologue to introduce new readers whilst reminding returnees of the backdrop to the story. In a nutshell, the world is being policed by the women who developed Goddess powers in the original story. The years have rolled on to 2030 when 11,000 telepathically connected women, known as the “helpful ladies”, are fighting crime and keeping the world safe. All of our favourite characters from American Goddesses are still here but they play a supporting role to the new generation of Goddesses, most notably Tammy, the teenage daughter of Trish and Tom Wilkins.Henry also reintroduces Melinkova, the rogue Russian Goddess from his original story by allowing her to inhabit the body of a murdered 18 year old prostitute. The incongruity of a hard bitten 48 year old hidden behind a vulnerable appearance makes for every man’s nightmare. In Melinkova, Henry affords us a glimpse of what she might have been had she not been abused by so many men on whom she wreaks a very satisfying revenge. This fracture of personality is even more apparent in his character Rhonda Sue, another rogue Goddess, who we come to view sympathetically despite the carnage she unleashes.Henry’s skill as a writer is apparent in the assured way he is able to switch between time frames. There is a sub-plot, where Tammy is taken forward to 2630 and shown a vision of a future where the rogue Goddesses have enslaved all of mankind. This is done order to galvanise her into using her fledging powers and is a device that works extremely well, even allowing Henry to have a little fun at the end of the novel.Rogue Goddesses is set in the future and contains elements of sci-fi. For example, there are nani-phones which allow people to quite literally have all of technology at their fingertips and driverless cars. Henry’s style though is such that he makes these things completely believable within the realms of his story, just as he does with the many powers that the Goddesses enjoy.Ultimately, Rogue Goddesses is a celebration of women and sisterhood. Henry presents us with the ideal of a supportive and kind, matriarchal society, which is able to triumph despite the threat posed by the somewhat sad rather than bad rogue Goddesses.I loved this novel, it’s a lot of fun and it makes a refreshing change to read about women who are kicking ass and saving the world.

He lays down the basis for direct mail advertising. His text is clear, insightful and still applicable in the Internet age...That said, I would advise people NOT to buy this edition of the book. It's full of typos, spelling errors and incomplete sentences. The publishers (really simple media) are obviously just a bunch of amateurs taking advantage of the fact that this masterpiece is in the public domain.Spend your hard-earned cash on a decent used copy of Scientific Advertising instead of buying this unprofessional edition....

Ogilvy even claimed it changed his life (in advertising anyway, but who knows, advertising is Ogilvy's life). The book is amazing in both its simple and direct approach. It's relatively short, yet packed with information of use to anyone interested in advertising.Hopkins essentially invented many of the concepts that so many advertisers take for granted today, chief among them what seems like a simple idea: the coupon. And even today, many advertisers fail to get results when they stray from his teachings. One of the most famous examples of failing to follow his teachings: the "Got Milk" campaign. Sure, it seems clever and it's definitely high profile, but from a marketing standpoint, it's a flop. Milk sales have not moved upward at all despite the fact that milk producers are now several years into the campaign. Want to know why it failed? Read Hopkins's book.Whether you are an individual considering a career in advertising or an businessperson trying to figure out how best to market your business, start with Hopkins and then move onto the rest. All advertising before "Scientific Advertising" flows into it; and all advertising after "Scientific Advertising" flows out of it.

By A Customer Claude Hopkins invented test marketing, sampling technology and the concept of pre-emptive advertising. The concepts he reveals in this book have been used by advertisers for decades and he is recognized by marketing experts such as Jay Abraham as a genius in his field. Scientific Advertising is an all-time classic book andyou'll want to read it at least three times. Each reading will provide you with profound insights into how to market any product or service.

A decade dead, Jacob Campbell is a preservationist, providing a kind of taxidermy to keep his clients looking lifelike for as long as the forces of entropy will allow. But in the Land of the Dead, where the currency is time itself and there is little for corpses to do but drink, thieve, and gamble eternity away, Jacob abandons his home and his fortune for an opportunity to meet the man who cheated the rules of life and death entirely.According to legend, the Living Man is the only adventurer to ever cross into the underworld without dying first. It’s rumored he met his end somewhere in the labyrinth of pubs beneath Dead City’s streets, disappearing without a trace. Now Jacob’s vow to find the Living Man and follow him back to the land of the living sends him on a perilous journey through an underworld where the only certainty is decay.Accompanying him are the boy Remington, an innocent with mysterious powers over the bones of the dead, and the hanged man Leopold l’Eclair, a flamboyant rogue whose criminal ambitions spark the undesired attention of the shadowy ruler known as the Magnate. An ambitious debut that mingles the fantastic with the philosophical, Dead Boys twists the well-worn epic quest into a compelling, one-of-a-kind work of weird fiction that transcends genre, recalling the novels of China Miéville and Neil Gaiman.Skyhorse Publishing, under our Night Shade and Talos imprints, is proud to publish a broad range of titles for readers interested in science fiction (space opera, time travel, hard SF, alien invasion, near-future dystopia), fantasy (grimdark, sword and sorcery, contemporary urban fantasy, steampunk, alternative history), and horror (zombies, vampires, and the occult and supernatural), and much more. While not every title we publish becomes a New York Times bestseller, a national bestseller, or a Hugo or Nebula award-winner, we are committed to publishing quality books from a diverse group of authors.

Review “If China Miéville, Neil Gaiman and Hunter S. Thompson had a ménage à trois, Dead Boys would be the lovechild. A cracking book.”—Jay Kristoff, author of Stormdancer“A macabre, madcap picaresque full of fast-talking corpses and philosophical skeletons. Squailia's super-charged prose swings from bone-crunching action to meditations on the meaning of life and the mysteries of death. It's an exuberant mashup.”—Brendan Mathews, author of The World of Tomorrow“Exquisite worldbuilding alongside a mix of humor and philosophy … This underworld is a fascinating city.”—Publishers Weekly“If Neil Gaiman wrote an episode of Deadwood without the swearing and all the characters were already dead, it might read a little like this. I was utterly charmed.”—Robin Riopelle, author of Deadroads“A cheeky read and full of the quirky characters that keep my heart beating, Dead Boys gave me the fantastical journey I’ve been dying (har) to read.”—Women Write About Comics

Intricately detailed fantasy world provides Tim Burton-style fun By Joe Crowe This one contains an intricately detailed fantastic world like in a Tim Burton movie. Edward Scissorhands and Nightmare Before Christmas came to mind as I read. The story is about corpses inhabiting the Land of the Dead. Everyone takes their time; they have all eternity, after all. The hero seeks out The Living Man, who cheated death and returned to the land of the living. Awesomely named characters abound, including Leopold Eclair and The Bonemaiden. It's just fun, and it'll sweep you up in its fanciful goodness. (Joe Crowe, http://www.twitter.com/revolutionsf)

Parker I read a review that called Dead Boys the lovechild of China Miéville, Neil Gaimon and Hunter S Thompson so of course that sparked my interest. Having read the book I think we should add Charles Dickens as a grandfather because it is so filled with lively (pardon the term) characters. The story is basically the quest through the Underworld of a small group of travelers made up of a newly dead suicide and his sidekicks a headless couple and a reconstructed crow, a wise-cracking dandy, the corpse-less head and ostensibly led by Jacob, a sort of taxidermist to the citizens of Dead City who value preserving what they can of their former flesh for as long as possible. From Dead City barroom brawls to scrimmages on the Plains of War, the philosophizing of the fleshless Skeletons of the White City to the scouring of the sands of the Moving Desert this is more than a simple quest with layers as deep as Southheap. Funny, macabre, philosophical... a fantastic read. Highly recommended.

As per usual, my review is 100% my honest opinion.I was originally interested in reading this book because it was described as a being like the lovechild of China Mièville, Neil Gaiman and Hunter S. Thompson. I don't know about everyone, but that definitely sounds like something that would be perfect me for me. Many times claims like this are just hype, but in this case it was a very apt description.I found it to be a perfect blend of fantasy and the macabre, which is one of my favorite things. Whether it is in stories or art. Being about a group of corpses, one might think it a horror story, but it is more of a fantasy adventure with horror elements. It really sucked me in to the world and I really didn't want to leave it!I was so surprised to find out this is the author's first book. It has characters I really cared about, vivid descriptions of wondrous locales, humor, intelligence and heart. About halfway through I really felt like I knew the characters and their voices. They were all dimensional and though not the norm, they still felt very real. I just loved how the story and situations were very fantastical with literary writing. I hate when authors try to dumb things down because of the genre.Usually in my reviews this is where I give my opinion on things I didn't like so much, but there really wasn't anything. I simply loved it as is and wouldn't change a thing. The only time I felt disappointment was when I had no more to read! Heh. i highly recommend this book to anyone who loves fantasy, macabre, journeys, adventure or fiction in general. I can't wait to read more from Gabriel Squailia!

By Ceida Uilyc This book was persuaded me to get acquainted with Windows 10 on my phone only to get addicted to the new User Interface and get the same for my lappy too. And, trust me, the ride has been just great! With the book advising me on what to do and what not to, I have become a pro on Windows 10 with all my gadgets in tune with the same. Windows 10 is amazing with a zillion new face to the old cluttered Microsoft software and the book just unlocked the superpowers to use it perfectly for me. Using the software expertly and with knowledge is the fundamental of a wise computer. And I am definitely one now, thanks to the book.

Microsof company attempted to address all the concerns throughout consequent Microsoft windows 8 improvements in addition to improvements. Having Microsoft windows 10, Microsof company treated at once the actual UI problems. My partner and i found that the actual standard computer's desktop UI of the brand-new COMPUTER ITSELF appears to be in addition to functions a large calculate a lot more like Microsoft windows 7, plus the touch sophisticated UI can be much more organic.

By Angelo Gravi This is a great guide to get you quickly to grips with the new features of Windows 10. I already knew some stuff that’s explained in the book after reading a few articles as I was too curious to see what Microsoft has to offer after the not so successful Windows 8. But I learned a whole lot of stuff I didn't’ have a clue about! Back to the good Windows 7 feel then but with so many new powerful features! Awesome! I use both Mac and Windows at home because I like some features from both but this new operating system makes me love Microsoft more! Excellent read, straight to the point. Five

Not just the first responders, but making all citizens fearful. The Anniversary day started as a celebration of survival. Now, someone has perverted peaceful aliens into willing accomplices in a third devastating attack. If you have read the preceding books in the series, the characters will be very familiar- maybe repetitive. The civil administration in each dome is distinctive, and that complicates the job of security. But this is society fearful of losing air pressure, as the terrorists know. Also, this is a place where many races, not just humans, come and go. So travelers could bring hazard with them.Clues are there; the authorities must unravel trails left by the terrorists (parallels to the Sept. 11 attacks). Legal niceties complicate the task, even limiting the authorities. This is where underworld contacts come into use. An ensemble of moon dwellers work to thwart what they fear will happen next.Like others, this series spends a lot of time repeating itself; how clever Miles is with computers (you'd think he was a cyborg), how much he the characters love their families, and the toll taken on characters' private lives.

To make sense of everything, you need to go back at least to "Anniversary Day" and start reading in order from there until you get to this book.Miles Flint is back in this continuation of the Anniversary Day saga. So is his daughter (Talia), Luc Deshin, Noelle DeRicci, and the rest of the folks in the Moon's Armstrong Dome that I have enjoyed reading about over the course of the series. Things are really getting exciting now. As you may remember, following the Anniversary Day bombing, a number of Peyti lawyers who turned out to be clones attempted their own mass bombing. This book continues the investigation into what is going on and why. Conspiracy theories abound. Facts are starting to be revealed. The next book (Vigilantes) is scheduled to be released next month, and I am waiting with anticipation. .

Story jumps between all the groups involved with solving the crimes and the progress they are making. Miles is back. Excellent plot development. Great reading. Looking forward to how all this resolves.

Best laid plans etc. By Amazon Customer When I got this, I had a grand plan that I would take Kindle editions of various work related titles and put them on my android tablet and then leave it at work for a reference. It was a good plan, except that on my android tablet, only the first and last pages show up. None of the charts, none of the explanations, nada showed up. This is the only book I have had this problem with. It shows up fine on my iOS device, and on my Windows devices, just not on the Android device.

2 of 2 people found the following review helpful. Great Action: X-Files meets Blacklis By Readaholic This is a great new series. It's a bit like X-Files meets Blacklist. I enjoyed reading but the story could have been better developed and be a full length 250+ page novel. I hope future books are fully developed.

Smoke and Sid By Anett Simonsen I just read book 1 and 2 in two days and I want the next now! :) An independent woman, who starts to see the world from another angle. She is loveable and not perfect - Smoke is her "partner" he is good at rattling her in a good way, he tries to get her to see that all is not what it seems in the world - and that you can't trust anybody (not even himself) We meet Guppy and Sam (yet again not perfect people) and more new people emerge not to many but enough. I can't wait to read the rest.

The characters begin to grow, although I admit I found Sid a bit juvenile at times and wanted to slap her. I recommend this book for its writing - its a fast easy read without being repetitive or degenerating into silliness. I don't like the way the FBI is portrayed - I'm tired of the Feds being portrayed as villianous liars or incompetents, but it does advance the story line. I would definitely recommend the series as a whole.

Anderson This is a short story in tandem with the book "Galactic Circle Veterinary Services." This and the book are both enjoyable reads. I wish the short story would have been longer just so I could have enjoyed reading a bit longer. I also enjoy the sense of humor that permeates his stories.
