By Donalyn Vaughn I have been following the Shred Diet Plan since July and have lost 58 pounds. I received my copy of the Cookbook on Tuesday and have been thrilled with the recipes so far. The directions are easy to follow and not time consuming, which is great coming home from work in the evening. Most of all they are TASTY! My family has eaten the same thing I have eaten all week long, and not once has anyone asked for something different or something in addition. I cooked the pork roast with cauliflower mash Thursday night, and my husband commented that I must be taking a cheat night. This program works, and I am so excited to have this new tool to help me continue to lose the weight.
30 of 32 people found the following review helpful. Terrific low-cal Recipes By Jeff D. The Shred Diet Cookbook is a great companion to anyone who is interested in Ian's Shred or Super Shred plans. The book has a very brief overview of the shred plan, but this is very concise so you may want to also read the other books.The heart of the book is the recipes. There are a total of about 180, divided in breakfasts, lunches, dinners, snacks and smoothies. Each recipe gives clear directions and includes full per-serving nutritional information, such as calories, protein, carbs, sodium, etc. Many of the recipes are also accompanied by very nice full color photos of the prepared dishes. Overall, the book is beautifully designed.It's important to note that this is strictly a recipe book. There is no diet plan, no meal plain, and no shopping list.For an easy to follow diet plan, as well as low calorie/hi protein meals that are fast to prepare, I would also suggest The Protein Express Diet: Rapid Weight Loss with a Simplified Low Carb, High Protein Diet. I have had great success on this diet, and the rapid preparation meals can also work as part of the the shred program.The recipes are what counts, however, and this book will be a valued resource for anyone who wants to try Ian's diet plan.
16 of 17 people found the following review helpful. Diet or no diet - Getting healthy? GET THIS BOOK! By Momma A Even if you are not doing the Shred or Fat Smash diet - GET THIS BOOK! Super easy recipes and you can find EVERYTHING at your local grocery store. I know there are some diets out there that call for buffalo and shark meat, smh.It is also broken down by meals and smoothies. It is easy to make a grocery list from the recipes. I tabbed each recipe I wanted to try most by a different color, then went back and chose meals for each day. Once I wrote down what all I needed, then I had my list. If you are an avid cook or just love to cook, you would have 90% of the ingredients and spices. My kids loved the recipes and so did my husband. You can tell some time and some love went in this book.I also don't get the one star reviews. This book is HUGE and if you can't meal plan with this or control your portions then you need to get help from a dietitian. I see some complain that the meals are to expensive.... well duh, processed food will be cheaper, but shop around. We drive just a little farther to get better deals on fresh produce. :) Also see if you have any Latino Markets around. The ones in Oklahoma are SUPER cheap on produce and work with local farmers to keep cost down. Look for Farmers Markets as well. Good luck!!
