Big Finish Saves the Best for Last By Adam Graham, Superhero and Detective Fiction Author Dark Eyes 4 wraps up Big Finish's first series of Eighth Doctor box sets and it's the best and most satisfying of the lot. The writing duo of John Dorney and Matt Frition provide just the right balance. Dorney delivers a fun story with some lighter moments in the opening story with some timey elements. Frition create a rich and atmospheric tale in 1920s Paris that brings the Dalek Time Controller in a tale that emotional and powerful for the second story. In the third tale, "Master of the Daleks," we have the best story of the entire Dark Eyes saga as the Dalek Time Controller brings in the Master to help him with his plan for universal domination. Then Fritton ties it up with, "Eye of Darkness" which is a gripping finale that answers all the questions and ties up the loose ends in a way that's clever and cathartic.The acting is solid as well. McGann manages to play the Doctor in various ways throughout the set. He ranges from the playful romantic of the TV movie of the Early Big Finish tale to the decent and morally righteous man trying to protect an artist from an unscrupulous cabaret operator (though it's more than that) to being disoriented and time drunk after the events of the second story, to a heroic final chapter. Nicola Walker really comes into her own in Liv Chenka, providing needed sarcasm to all the megalomaniacs in the set. Nicholas Briggs is superb as the Dalek and the Dalek Time Controller. And Alex Macqueen's Master is one of the most compelling versions of the rival Time Lord ever.The music and sound design are up to Big Finish's usual high standards. Overall, this is a superb production. My only disappointment on finishing it is that I realized I have to wait several months until the next set.

By Joseph Baneth Allen Just finished listening to "Doctor Who - Dark Eyes 4" released by Big Finish Productions.Spoilers Ahead!The time line has become unraveled and rewritten thanks to the behind the scenes machinations of not only The Master; but of the Time Controller Dalek as well. Both want to rule in a timeline where they have subjugated Humanity and the Eminence into their ultimate war weapon to gain control of the entire universe.This final series in the Dark Eyes saga includes" "A Life In The Day," "The Monster of Montmartre," "Master Of The Daleks," and the heartbreaking "Eye of Darkness" - where Molly O'Sullivan is forced to bring an end to the Eminence by fulfilling the destiny the Celestial Intervention Agency set out for her so long ago when she was an infant."Dark Eyes 4" successfully wraps up all the loose ends and hints at further adventures for the Eighth Doctor and Liv.Highly Recommended!Five Stars!
