She gave me her blood, and my life changed forever. Anastasia. My sire. The only influential figure in my already-fragile life. She did this to me. She caused all the pain and suffering. There was a time I believed I owed her everything. After all, she gave me immortality and the never-ending thirst for the energy contained in the blood of my victims. But now vampires hunt me and the humans want to use me as their personal weapon. They believe I'm some kind of apotropaic figurine that can damn all Deamhan and force us back into hell where we belong. Me? I just want to live. I just want to be Maris. That way, the only one I can damn is myself.

Maris: The Brotherhood Files, by Isaiyan Morrison

Review "The story is highly engaging and has great depth as I couldn't stop reading until the end. Morrison has the ability to get readers to care for her characters. This to me gives this series something extra that lifted it above typical vampire-themed novels, along with the well-written plot." - 5 Star Review from Reader's Favorite  "I loved this book. The world that Isaiyan created is intriguing." - Reviewer "Unlike the other novels, this one follows one Deamhan in particular, Maris, from day one of her becoming a Deamhan. I enjoyed this method of introduction to the Deamhan world." -The Bookish Ailurophile "Isaiyan really captured me in this book. I am in love with all these books. Having so many different takes on the vampire and making it work in a beautiful unique way, well it's just magical.""The author holds nothing back. Deamhan are monsters. The main character is a monster. This is what I love about this novel. Many vampire novels depict vampire protagonists as creatures that feel sympathy for man. Don't expect that same sympathy here." - Online Book Club Review

From the Author Thank you so much for purchasing the third book which takes place in The Deamhan Chronicles. The first and second book; Deamhan and Dark Curse, are available on Amazon as well. The Deamhan Chronicles aren't like any vampire novels. Deamhan are supernatural creatures, bent on survival, who live in a world surrounded by their sanguine enemies. If you're looking for romance, you won't find it in this novel. I love honest reviews and if you would be so kind to leave one, it would make my day.

By Art Owen When I was first checking out this book I thought it was going to be just a standard vampire story minus the cliche love story since, as the author put it, "If you're looking for romance, you won't find it in this novel." And that would have been fine by me if that had been the case, because I really enjoy a good vampire/supernatural suspense and thriller. If all this book had been was a standard and well written vampire novel I would have been satisfied. What I got was way better than that. This book really goes much deeper into lore and even comes up with some new and unique perspectives on the supernatural world. This book goes beyond vampires and into a new type of delight that the author spun into a wondrous and dark tale of humans and deamhans. I enjoyed this book so much that I've gone out of my way to recommend it to my friends.

Empathy and love come to mind, the only emotions they seem to feel is hatred. And though they have super natural strength, (come on she reaches in through his back and rips out the still beating heart of her enemy.)to me the reader, they feel like pawns caught in a deeper web laid out millennium ago and the spring yet to come. Spanning from the end of the 19th century England, to the middle of the 20th century San Francisco, attention to detail about clothing is well researched, trends of the times, music, dance, are covered well. You get a sense of the history when and when without getting bogged in the details. Though easily a stand alone book you can tell there are other books with more of the story and more yet to come after. The glossary at the back of the different creatures will help if like me you have trouble telling who is who.The author gave me this book in exchange for an honest review. I have not yet read anything else by her but I am throughly intrigued by the Deamhan and can not wait to read other books set in it's world. I look forward to reading more books by Isaiyan Morrison.

By Kelly St. Clare: Author of Fantasy of Frost I read a lot of paranormal fantasy, and this really stands apart from the others. The author has submerged themselves so deeply in to the character's mind. I thought the voice of Maris was near perfect. Morrison has given great attention to detail. Little things, such as being able to predict other's movements because of the small contractions of their muscles, provided authenticity to her work - something I don't commonly see in many paranormal novels.I was torn as to whether this book deserved 4 or 5 stars because it really was a 4.5 for me (Get a 4.5 star button Amazon). This was because Maris felt emotionally muted to me. This is totally in context of the story, but it's something I expected to change and develop as the story progressed. Perhaps in book two? In the end, I realized I hadn't put the book down once, and the minor quibble was just that. Minor! So it has scored a well deserved 5 stars.Maris is recommended for people who love the paranormal genre, but like it a little darker, and with a little less "teen hype". You will get a gripping story line and a professionally set out book.
